A Guide to PrayerTo Isaac Watts, prayer was more than a duty required in the worship of God. To Isaac Watts, prayer was more than a duty required in the worship of God. It was ‘the conversation which God allows us to maintain with himself above, while we are here below…in which the soul of a saint often gets near to God, experiences great delight and, as it were, dwells with his heavenly Father for a short time before he comes to heaven.’ But Watts knew that most Christians need help in the use of this great privilege, so that our prayers should be both acceptable to God and ‘a delightful and profitable exercise to our own souls and to those that join with us’. In this helpful and practical guide, Watts deals in turn with the nature of prayer, prayer viewed as a gift which can be developed, prayer as dependent on the fruits of divine grace, and the assistance of the Spirit of God in prayer. In his final chapter he brings forward several arguments to persuade all Christians to develop and use ‘this holy skill of conversation with God’.

______________

Isaac Watts, the English hymn-writer, theologian and logician, was born in Southampton in July 1674, and educated at King Edward VI School, where he learned Latin, Greek and Hebrew. He suffered from ill health during his adult years and was cared for by his benefactors. Watts died in Stoke Newington in November, 1748, and was buried in Bunhill Fields, where a tombstone was erected to his memory by Sir John Hartopp and Lady Abney. A prolific and popular hymn-writer, he is recognised as the ‘Father of English Hymnody’, credited with some 750 hymns. His book A Guide to Prayer is published by the Trust.

______________

‘I would thoroughly recommend this book. I don’t think Brother Watts intended for this book to be followed mechanically but it offers a very helpful guide if you are struggling with prayer and are going through a period of spiritual depression. It is not a heavy read: the style is simple and engaging. The book is also presented as a handsome and strong small format hardback so should last a lifetime.’ matteob

Good Relief, But a Little Pricey
I don’t usually write reviews, but I felt like this cream deserved one. I’ve tried so many products for dry, itchy eczema patches, and most either felt greasy, burned when applied, or just didn’t do much. Puriya has been such a refreshing change. The texture is smooth, it absorbs quickly without leaving that sticky feeling, and within a couple of days my skin felt calmer and the redness started to fade. What I really like is how versatile it is. I’ve used it on flare-ups, random dry spots, and even my hands when they get irritated in the summer. It feels gentle but still effective, and I don’t need to use a ton for it to work. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is the price. It’s a little on the higher side for the amount you get. I also find myself reapplying a bit more often than I’d like. But overall, it’s one of the better creams I’ve tried, and I’ll definitely keep using it.

Not good for eczema
This cream shouldn't be described as an eczema cream. Eczema is usually colonized by s. aureus bacteria, and you need a powerful anti-bacterial substance in your skin cream in order to combat it. Neem oil or manuka honey both have strong anti-bacterial effects, and I recommend getting a cream with one of those ingredients if you have eczema. This Puriya cream is helpful for moisturizing dry skin to prevent eczema. However, it won't help to stop eczema once you've got it. That said, customer service was very helpful and gave me a refund for the product after I complained.

Very nice and moisturizing on the skin but didn't do much repairing. Overly expensive for nothing.

Calm Cream for Redness
This naturally plant based eczema cream is really calming on my skin, and it feels lovely with no irritation from using it. The texture color was kinda new to me due to the color of how it looked when I opened it (you really can't tell it's cream),but It didn't bother me anymore after I started applying it on my skin and started smelling the loving aroma it had to it. It resembled that of a calming Shea Cocoa butter mixed with a hint of fresh oats. unfortunately it didn't last long though(1-2 minutes after applying). Since using this cream my skin has been fully moisturized and calmed with no itching. Now though my skin gets irritated occasionally due to changing weather, I can't fully say it helps clear up my flare-ups entirely. What I can say is that for me since applying this on my red spot areas, it has kept the itch at bay considerably and made the skin smooth to boot. So I will continue using this cream and hopefully through time it will fully clear up.
