MEMOIRS OF SPENCER "TED" NETTELTON. WORKING IN THE 1960S (PAPERBACK) COLOUR PHOTOGRAPHS

During the 1960s, Lesotho gained its independence and the Basotho people elected their first Prime Minister.

In Volume 2 of his memoirs, Spencer 'Ted' Nettelton reflects on the momentous changes he witnessed during nineteen years working in Lesotho as a District Commissioner in the British Colonial service. In 1966, he organised Lesotho's Independence Celebrations before serving as Secretary to the country's first democratically elected Prime Minister Chief Leabua Jonathan.

Accompanying Leabua to the US where the prime minister delivered his first address to the United Nations General Assembly, Ted and the PM were guests of President Lyndon Johnston at the White House during a hugely successful tour of the country.

Supported by dozens of contemporary newspaper clippings, Ted describes the masterful juggling act of an astute prime minister at the helm of a newly independent African nation landlocked by apartheid South Africa.

From Constitutional crisis on the eve of Independence to the machinations employed by Russia, China, and South Africa to gain influence in the strategically positioned country, Ted's memoir provides a snapshot of daily life and a broader picture of a bygone era punctuated by medicine murder and illegal diamond buying overlaid by the irrepressible spirit and strength of the Basotho people amongst whom he had many good friends.

Get your copy now and witness the birth of a nation through the eyes of a British Colonial District Commissioner as he experienced the triumphs, challenges, and unforgettable spirit of Lesotho and its people during a pivotal era.

A Experience to Be Read
Format: Paperback
I bought the first issue when the series debuted but couldn't afford to continue. So I'm glad I found this volume 1 trade paperback. On first read, it has a few inspirations from Japanese manga from panel layouts to manga/anime character tropes. That being the case, it carves its own identity as a romance story between a normal orphan boy and a centuries old vampire and their daily lives in an alternate history USA. I like mash-up of different cultures from German and Japanese to Spanish and English including the music, the written languages, and other aspects. Nights has a vibe not everyone will like off bat, but I'll will vouch that anyone should give it a try.

Overwhelming Great!
Format: Paperback
This was mind blowingly good. Haven’t read anything in a long time where every character’s backstory was so well written and interesting. The story rocks, it’s almost overwhelming. I will be on the hunt for the individual issues because there’s no way I’m waiting for the next trade paperback.

Best new comic I have read in a while
Format: Kindle
Interesting characters that you are immediately invested in, strange world, super fun and witty writing/dialog. You’ll really enjoy this one. Genre? Mmm alternate past/present Florida with a quirky horror bent? Just read it. You’ll thank me. :D
